Going through the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, I wondered what it would be like to meet her—say in 1953, in a park. This painting imagines that encounter. The sparse trees and textured sky evoke a space that is simultaneously inviting and disquieting. A place suspended between Reality and the possibility of an enduring human spirit.
