I was strongly moved when I toured the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, it was as if she was still there. I wondered what it would be like to meet her in happier times, after the war in a park. This painting imagines that encounter. The sparse trees and textured sky evoke a space that is simultaneously inviting and disquieting. A place suspended between Reality and the possibility of an enduring human spirit.
